Smarty Pants

Today was the first day of Marcos' last semester...he will graduate in May with a degree in Biology with an emphasis in Physiology and Anatomy, and I am so excited for him! :)

I must give him a pat on the back for last semester. Guy got straight A's. All things considered, it was probably the most difficult semester in his school career thus far...

...We had Mason a week before his semester started in Fall, and that first month or so was killer. I was still healing from my c-section, Marcos was trying to get adjusted to his hardcore biology classes and heavy workload, we were both adjusting to becoming parents and learning how to take care of a screaming newborn, we were still writing essays for medical school secondary applications, he went out of town several times for interviews at different medical schools (leaving me with the newborn) often having to miss classes, all while still trying to keep up with his studies.......

::whew:: Can you tell I'm relieved that last semester is over?! Very special thanks to all our friends and family who helped us survive last semester. We could not have done it all without you. I'm so proud of my Marcos for all his hard work and know he'll do great this semester as well!

5 Months

Mason turned 5 months a few days ago, and here is a post in his honor...and because we have pictures piling up that need to be posted. And our internet is so slow, it's going to take me forever to upload these, and yes, I'm too lazy to just resize the pictures to make it quicker. So I hope you enjoy them. :)

MASON at 5 months:

Still has bright blue eyes. Where is the Mexican in you baby? Good thing we didn't name you Diego like Daddy wanted....Seriously.

Is liking baths more and more...I just think this picture with the towel head is super cute. I recently found out that he has become quite ticklish as I lotion him up after his bath. Which by the way, he doesn't like being lotioned/massaged right now. When I was pregnant I read all this stuff about the special bonding time of infant massage. When I try it, my kid fusses and flails and looks at me all confused and says with his eyes, What are you doing?!?! Give me my space! :::sigh::: So special.

Loooooooves to drink from a bottle whenever he has the opportunity. That's the easy food! I usually have to hold his hands when I feed him because he's a little too "helpful" with the bottle.

LOVES BOOKS. Yea!..............

........even if half the time he loves them for chewing. There's still learning happening, right?

Thinks it's so funny and intriguing when we point out the parts of his face.

Still does not enjoy tummy time. Maybe for a few minutes, and he needs to be constantly entertained. How ya gonna learn to crawl, buddy?! In case you were wondering, that's his tummy time beach towel on our living room rug. I know it's not the most chic interior decorating move, but when you have a baby many times practicality wins out over fashion. Especially when you need something that absorbs spit up and buckets of drool. But none of that matters when you look at that darling little face. :::awww:::

My Boys

I started taking pictures because I thought it was so funny that Marcos was super tired and Mason was happy and ready to play.

Chomping on Daddy's thumb. (Wake up Daddy!)

Baby wins....Daddy's awake! I love my boys!

Park Excitement

A few weeks ago Mason had his first experience at a park. It would be a lot more fun if he could actually run around and eat bugs and such. But he nonetheless enjoyed looking at the beautiful outdoor scenery and colorful playground he has yet to discover. He was especially thrilled with the swings. Can't you tell?

Thanksgiving 2009

This year we spent Thanksgiving with my family in San Diego. It was a busy and fun week. Traveling was rough, because Mason does NOT enjoy riding in the car....so what should have easily been a 5 hour trip ended up taking about 7 hours. I know, I hear ya.....I thought babies love car rides! Yeah. I thought so, too.

We had a great time with family once we arrived. My Mom made a yummy Thanksgiving meal and we got to go over to Aunt Carrie's for some dessert and long overdue cousin time. Unfortunately, that night Mason got sick for the first time, and that's when I learned that seeing your baby sick is pretty much the saddest thing ever.

Even though he wasn't feeling well, we still got some cute Mason shots with family. It took extra encouragement to get smiles, but he's a pretty good sport about pictures. I'm glad. Cuz if that many people tried to get me to smile and laugh when I was feeling sick....I'd pretty much wanna punch them in the face. Here's a bunch of pictures of my sweet boy and family. It was so much fun to see them. And play Tetris with them.....which, I might add, is one of the funnest games ever.
